M y husband had a sigmoid resection last week his first bowel movement was loose and contain blood . He also has very smelly gas . His second bowel movement he had a formed stool with some loose ones but it also contain red blood . Is that normal after this type of surgery .he had it done laparoscopic using the robot

I would advise him to do stool for occult blood test.
Also minor bleeding can occur after sigmoid resection. Take Tranexamic acid group of drugs.
