Hello,

Unfortunately, I don't know your age, or if you have any ongoing health problems, medications, or recent travel, or where you live (good sanitation system vs a country with poorer sanitation) and all of this would contribute to what advise I would give.

Did it start abruptly after an infection or a particular food or new supplement? Have you been under more stress lately?

Assuming you are younger, no travel, American, healthy, no meds, no precipitating event, no recent stress, I would recommend trying an elimination process, controlling one variable at a time.

The first thing I would suggest giving up for a few weeks is dairy, as lactase enzyme deficiency is a fairly common problem.

If that makes no difference, and you aren't losing weight or having bloating problems or worsening of symptoms, you can add it back in and try eliminating something else.

If your symptoms get worse in any way, time to go in to be seen in person.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
