What Causes Development Of Chunk Like Yellowish Brown Pieces From Breast During Pregnancy?

I am 33 wks pregnant and within the last few weeks, my left nipple has very small and hard yellowish brown pieces that look like cracks. I bought a hard cream that contains lanolin to put on it. I ve used it and each time Ive used it, a piece or 2 falls off. Should I be concerned or it is just dryness?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may be just dryness but you should consider having it seen since you are close to delivery and may need to breast feed.

Fungal or bacterial infections of the nipple can occur as well as nipple eczema.
If it is not itching, then nipple eczema is not likely.

If it is a fungal or bacterial infection then the use of a topical cream would help healing.

I hope this helps
