What Causes Dermatomyositis?

Hi. I m freaking out a little. My symptoms were few and my possible illnesses included Dermatomyositis. My daughter had this as a child! She was diagnosed on her fourth birthday and went into remission when she was 12. She is now 30. My symptoms are probably indications of something like IBS. But the Dermatomyositis thing...that s so odd! I mean it s so rare and I had no idea there were abdominal symptoms...

An autoimmune disease occurs when your body's disease-fighting cells, called antibodies, attack your healthy cells. Having a compromised immune system may also contribute to getting the disease.
