What Causes Deleayed Periods?

hey, i was on the pill for 5 months.. i got my period the last week of december and i, with out realising kept taking the pill through my period when i wasnt suppose to.. i then stopped and around 5 days later i got what i thought was another period for about 4 days. i havent been on the pill since. ive had protected twice once yday and once on the 19th. and before that i hadnt had sex since the week before my normal due period in december. im due my period yday and it hasnt arrived.. could this be because im not on the pill anymore so my body is trying to get back to its own cycle or? i know im not pregnant because i have no signs or symptoms and the condom had no holes or anything on it because my boyfriend checked after. thank you

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

This is a common problem. remember that as you have taken the pill for a longer duration and experienced bleeding after stopping the pill, the next menstrual period will most likely not come on the regular date. The new cycle will most likely begin from the date of the second episode of bleeding and hence your period will be delayed.

Since you have used protection and were on pills in the previous cycle, chances of pregnancy are low.

I suggest that you do not worry and just wait for the next period.

Hope this was helpful. Have a good day.

Thanks for using HCM.
