What Causes Delayed Speech Development In A Child?

HI My baby boy is 18 months old but he hardly speaks only two words amma and dada .I am really worried .Is it a sign of autism.He started to walk by 13 months and he got his first tooth at 16 months and till now he has only on tooth .Apart from this he is normal ,mingle with people easily , understands few words .Is it a sign of autism

Hi,

If your child hardly speaks at 18 months then there is something wrong somewhere. You should get your son checked for tongue tie which can make it difficult to make sounds. Neurological problems should also be ruled out.

So far as the late eruption of teeth is concerned there may be several reasons such as vitamin D deficiency, anemia to name a few. I will advise contact a pediatrician to ascertain the reasons behind and treatment.
