Hi,

Though delayed periods by about a month and half is suggestive of pregnancy, repeated negative pregnancy tests confirm and offer the evidence that you are not pregnant. I would have appreciated had you mentioned your age. However, since you were considering the possibility of pregnancy.

I believe that you are in a childbearing age group. In this age group the commonest causes of such irregular menses are the hormonal imbalance; may be in reproductory hormones or may be in the Thyroid or other hormones. I would suggest you to get your hormonal profile (FSH, LH, Oestrogen, Progesterone, Prolactin, T3, T4 and T4) evaluated. It will point towards the underlying cause.

Ultrasonography will be useful in looking for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Accordingly, the treatment may be planned. Some infections like tuberculosis of the reproductory organs also may cause cassation of the menstruation.

Please report to your Gynaecologist for this delayed menstruation. To initiate the menses, you may take some Progestational pills like Deviry for 5 days. Within 4-7 days after discontinuing the pills, you should get withdrawal bleeding. These pills should be taken only with a Gynaecologist's advice and prescription.

I hope this provides you preliminary guidelines. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishikant Shrotri
