What Causes Delayed Periods With Abdominal Cramps?

I am concerned that I might be pregnant becauSr I did not have my period during the week that I should have. I am on birth control and have taken 5 otc pregnancy tests that have all come back negative. I am not spotting or anything, but I am having pregnancy-type cramps. I am curious what this might mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

What birth control method are you following? Some birth control methods have failure rates. If you had taken oral contraceptives regularly without missing a pill and this is not the first month you started OCP, you are less likely to be pregnant. Better to do a serum beta HCG (blood test) which will tell you whether you are pregnant or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jasmine Jagan
