What Causes Delayed Periods On Withdrawal Of Contraceptive Pills?

Hi. I have recently stopped taking the contraceptive pill. May 2014. June 13th 2014 I had a normal period. I am now 1 week late with no signs of period. I have taken a pregnancy test = negative. I have a sharp pain that comes and goes from day to day in my lower left abdomen. I have nausea and have been sick, heartburn, occasionally acid reflux, dizziness and tender breasts. Could this be my period? Or should I go and see my GP?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Return of ovulation after stopping hormone contraception takes a couple of months. This could be the most likely cause of the delayed period. Your symptoms can be premenstrual. You should see your health care provider for a proper clinical evaluation and plan further management. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
