What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Plan B?

I Took Plan B the last day of my period (last day bleeding) and had the typical symptoms of bleeding a couple days after for a week. Now My period is 2 weeks late and I took two pregnancy tests and both were negative. Am I pregnant or just the hormones changing things up?

Hi,

Suggestive of hormonal imbalance.

Based on the history given, you seem to have had breakthrough bleeding a couple of days after using the Plan-B (high dose of Levonorgestrel).

If you take Plan B One-Step within 24 hours, it is about 95% effective in preventing an unwanted pregnancy.

Plan-B may also cause your next period to come earlier or later than is normal for you.

Delayed period appears to be due to hormonal imbalance caused by taking larger dose of hormones (levonorgestrel).

If you don't get your period within 3 weeks, you should consult a gynecologist for further evaluation and possibly to induce bleeding if pregnancy is ruled out again.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
