What Causes Delayed Period With Negative Pregnancy Test Result?

Hi doctor Im 24yrs old from Gwalior. I and my gf had sex on 30 June. But after that she not get her period. Her last period has been came on 14June. Now she miss the period of July month and now august is coming. My question is - She tested through Prega News Pregnancy test 2 times it is showing negative result. Is this test is reliable.And after sex period timing is increased or not? A doctor concern her to go for Ultrasound should we go for ultrasound for knowing that she is pregnant or not. pls mam help..

Hello,

If you had an unprotected sex with your partner and she did not take the morning after pill within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse, nor is she on any contraceptive pills than she can be pregnant. The body takes time to develop the detectable amount of HCG levels. Pregnancy is usually not positive till the time of the missed period, pregnancy test gets positive 3-4 days after implantation, it may take longer.

You may not worry if she took the morning after pill within 72 hours of unprotected sex, but otherwise go for another pregnancy test, let it be done in a laboratory and make sure she collects the first midstream urine in the morning (after waking up) to be given for test. If you again get a negative test, you can consult a gynecologist and get an USG (Uterus) done.
