What Causes Delay In Periods While Taking Contraceptive Pill?

I'm on the contraceptive pill and I usually get my period by the second "gap day" between pills... I am now 9days late and have taken 4 pregnancy tests all negative... And also (i don't know if this is related) but I'm getting pains around my c-section scar (I had a section 15months ago) any idea on why my period is delayed?

In a natural cycle, estrogen thickens the lining of the womb in preparation for a possible pregnancy, when it doesn't occur, progesterone matures the lining, causing it to thin and shed. In pills, estrogen and a synthetic progesterone (progestin) is taken each day and eventually fifteen percent of patients on oral contraceptive pills skip or have no periods. The thinning effect of the progestin part of the pill eventually won out. You will need a more estrogenic pill for you period to return, but there is no harm if you don't cycle. Many women like skipping periods, intentionally skipping placebo (blank) pills. If taken daily, pills are 99.9% effective. Irregular use (and sex) causes pregnancy, not absent periods.
