What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Taking Contraceptive Pill?

Hii doc ,i had my periods on 1st may and on the last day of my period i had unprotected sex on the last day of my periods and i had unwanted 72 next evening. Again i had unprotected next day for better precautions i took an i pill within 24 hrs. Its 1st june now and i haven t got my period yet and after a week we had sex i came cross a little bit spotting too. Are they chances I m pregnant ?

Thanks for letting us know your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my opinion. In the current scenario, you did not need the emergency contraceptive pill in the first instance as you were in the safe period when you had the intercourse. Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next cycle and this is the fertile period when an unprotected intercourse can cause conception. So, you are not pregnant. As the emergency contraceptive pill contains high hormone dose, the hormone milieu is disrupted and this has caused the withdrawal spotting and also delay in the next natural period. Please get further help from your health care provider if you become overdue by ten days. Take care.
