My 1 1/2 doctor got ear tubes at 10 months due to always getting ear infections and the dictor said her canals were one of the smallest that he has ever seen. Now she had severe ear pain could not sleep about 3 weeks ago took her in to the specialist said she looked fine but if any drainage starts to put in the precscribed ear drops ... Now within the the last week severe congestion took to urgent care put her on a 10 day antibiotics for sunus unction and now still on it but within the last 4 days constant drainage with the drops not helping ., drainage started brown then went to dark yellow and now dark yellow with small amount of mucusy discharge but a lot a lot drainage what could be happening?
It is likely that he has either developed a fungal infection or the organism causing his infection is resistant to the antibiotic being used by you. I would like you to meet your ent doctor , who will take an ear swab and send it for culture , to find out which organism is causing the infection, once that is known , he can be treated appropriately.
Take care
