What Causes Dark Skin Discoloration On The Pelvic Area After Shaving?

I m a 54-year old female, 5 3 and weigh 110. I noticed when I shaved my pelvis yesterday that there are a few places that the skin is darker. It doesn t itch and no pain. I do have psoriasis, but those patches seem to only occur on my lower legs and upper arms. I m just wondering what it is, what caused it and if I need to be concerned. Thank you!

hi,
thank you for putting up your query on HCM.
mam, as per your history, you may have friction dermatitis or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to psoriatic lesions.
my treatment advise would be:
1. try to reduce weight, as friction dermatitis is common in overweight patients.
2. wear loose cotton clothes.
3. you can apply topical corticosteroids like betamethasone valerate(0.1%) cream twice a day over the lesions for 3-4 weeks.
hope, it helps.
wishing you good health.
thank you.
