What Causes Dark Particles In Urine And Painful Urination?

This is the second time I ve noticed dark particulate in my urine, at the very beginning of the flow. Coffee ground-like, with some larger, film-thin pieces of the same color. My urination has been (mildly) painful recently, and I haven t been sexually active in any regular way in years. I m a 57 yo male. Thank you!

Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM!

Regarding your concern, your symptoms seem to be related to urinary tract infection.

The fact that the dark particles come out in the beginning of the flow, means that it is a lower urinary tract infection, probably urinary bladder or urethra. Little stones may also cause similar symptoms.

I recommend you to perform an urine analysis and an abdominal ultrasound to examine better your urinary ways.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
