What Causes Dark Lips?

Hi there, I m 16 years old and a female. My lips have started to turn dark, itchy, and began to burn like the end of Feb, towards March. The weather has been changing from cold to hot over and over and I m guess my lips got irritated or something. Now my lips are completely black and I have dark spots on the bottom of my lips. I tried putting vasaline but the color and the spots arent going away, and my lips burn after the vasaline wears off. I m worried that I may have something serious since dark lips indicate cancer or another serious disease. Is is cause of hormones or something more serious?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, most of the time the dark lip would be due to allergic condition and in my opinion this can be best treated with Mometasone cream, if this does not responds then some systemic causes of this dark lip need to be ruled out and for that the first thing you need to do is routing blood test, hope this information helps.
