What Causes Dark, Itchy And Patchy Skin On Right Side Of Neck?

good morning Doctor.I have a little bit itchy feeling on my right neck between ear and shirt collar part. I have scratched for a few times and found a black patch on my skin which is looking ugly. I don t know the reasons. Is it because of a dry skin or a kind of ring worm or a kind of infection of an eczema? Presently, I m using Diprosone ointment for a couple time a day. I have cut my sharp nails to prevent scratching and trying to avoid it. Please advice me. Thanks ,Radha

Hi Radha, this is not suggestive of any fungal infection.i would advice you to check for a thyroid profile and blood glucose levels, and stop using diprosone (steriod )ointment. you can instead start your medications after going through these labs.
