What Causes Dark Brown Mucus When Coughing?
About a week ago I lost my voice as the week went in it got much better but hasn t healed completely however I ve also had an increase in coughing especially first thing in the morning. When I cough I m coughing up thick clear/white mucus with dark brown color in it as well. I m 34 female smoker. In starting to worry. What do you these can be signs of?

Dark brown mucus is suggestive of an infection of your lower airway , that is ,the lungs . This is a common complication following a infection of the larynx ( voice box). please dont worry , you may need a course of antibiotic and you will be fine. Please meet your doctor for the prescription.
