What Causes Cryptic Tonsils And Sore Throat During Pregnancy?

Hi. I'm 27 yrs old and 14 weeks pregnant. I woke up with an extremely sore throat Sunday morning. Went to the MD yesterday (for sore, swollen throat w/ white spots, hard to sleep, etc), no fever, negative strep. Left MD with nothing, said I had cryptic tonsils. Now I can't sleep b/c of pain and losing my voice. Any suggestions?

You have to get confirmed from the ENT specialist whether your tonsils are infected and you need antibiotics. If so, please get a prescription of antibiotics from ENT specialist. However, please do not take the antibiotics without showing the prescription to your obstetrician as all the antibiotics are not safe during pregnancy and some have hazardous effects on the baby inside the uterus.
Meanwhile you may try hot gargles with salt water or Listerine. Before you go to sleep, drinking a glassful of hot milk with turmeric powder and ginger powder will give you some symptomatic relief. Please avoid chilled things.
