What Causes Crepitus In The Knee?

I have been doing a workout program that consists of 30 minute workouts every day. My right knee clicks and grinds, which is not a new development. However, when I work (12 hour shifts), my right knee swells significantly and feels full of fluid. When I am not working, the swelling goes down, but I can feel a lump on the medial outer part of me knee, and it feels bruised. I m thinking I strained a ligament (perhaps the MCL?). Other than rest, I have started taking Omega 3 with glucosamine. Do you have any other recommendations? I have taken 3 days off working out to rest it, but I would like to get back to being active again.

Hello,

Knee crepitations are generally a sign of osteoarthritis which is a form of arthritis that happens with age. You may need to have an x-ray done to confirm this and also to evaluate the degree of the condition.
Omega 3 and glucosamine are used previously to treat arthritis but studies have shown that they do not really have an effect.

I would recommend you to better see your doctor, have a proper examination and possibly an x-ray and be treated accordingly after the results of these examinations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
