What Causes Cramps In The Back Of My Thigh While On Lovenox Injections Prior To A Colonoscopy?
I normally take low dose aspirin and 5 mg coumadin a day to keep my inr levels at 2.0-3.0. 3 days ago my doctor stopped coumadin and aspirin and put me on 4 mg Lovenox injections prior to a colonoscopy / endonoscopy. Today I awoke with a cramp inthe back of my left thigh and over the day it s getting a bit more intense and my thigh in the back is a little swollen. I checked my INR and it s at a 1.0. is this normal if your taking Lovenox or is my out of range not a good idea. This whole process wasn t explained to me and I even had to ask the pharmacist how to administer and such. Thanks for your time.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The craps at the back of the thigh could be due to an electrolyte imbalance or side effect of Lovenox injections. A decreased blood supply in the area can also cause this. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
