What Causes Cramping And Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Depo Provera Shot?

I am on the depo Vera shot in attempt to help with my severe cramping and periods. Lately I ve had severe cramps and spotting. It is a brown discharge. I m bleeding very little but it feels like my period is very heavy. It almost has me doubled over from all the pain. Is this normal?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you did not have any follow up after the shot, I would ask you to see your consultant for a proper clinical evaluation. As the deposhot contains high dose of progestogen, it is often associated with symptoms of bloating, pelvic congestion etc. Some menstrual disturbance also is possible. Yet, severe pain is not common; so, you have to exclude local causes and get proper further management. An uterine antispasmodic should help. Hope this helps.
