What Causes Coughing With Throat And Lung Dryness?

My throat and lung feel dry and when I cough, it burns sharply in my chest but there is phlegm that comes up. My nose is running and stuffy as well at times. Two days ago, I had what I believed was severe sinus issues all in my head, nose, gums, everywhere up top. My chest will continue to hurt for a little while after the cough. What is wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to a respiratory tract infection.
I recommend to use a mucolytic for the phlegm such as Mucinex.
I also suggest to drink liquids and rest.
If the symptoms continue, you may need to start a cycle of antibiotics such as Augmentin to treat the infection.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
