What Causes Coughing Up Of Blood While Suffering From Lung Cancer?

My brother was recently DX with lung cancer. He was in hospital last week due to coughing up blood. It stopped and he came home Saturday. He began it again this morning, just a scant amount and it has progressively became worse. It has slowed down within the past 30 mins. He wanted me to find out why the bleeding won t stop.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I am afraid this is bad sign and this is commonly seen in terminal stages of lung cancer. There is no much treatment possibilities. he can do bronchoscopy and if bleeding site is clearly visualized, then hemostasis can be done, otherwise, there is remedy It may stop sponttaneously bleeding, he should just lay with elevated upper body and take antitusics. All other measuers should be discussed with his pulmologist.
