What Causes Cough With Yellow Sputum, Sore Throat And Breathing Difficulty?

Hello and thank you, I have been coughing up yellow pus looking stuff since Christmas eve. Having difficulty sleeping. sore throught in addition to asthma and have not been able to breath well. I can only seem to walk 50 ft or so before I have to catch my breath. What can I do to help heal up?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough with yellow sputum, sore throat and breathing difficulty. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sore throat , which can occur due to bacterial infection , viral infection or acid reflux and other reasons are sinusitis , nasal polyp and ear infection. Need not to worry. You should avoid outside food. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order blood test , nasal endoscopy, CT scan for sinusitis and examination of ear with otoscope. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) along with decongestant , corticosteroid ear drops and expectorant . Doctor may recommend surgery for nasal polyp . For now do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to nose and external ear.
