What Causes Cough Followed By Low Grade Fever And Chills?

Hello, I first started having a cough three days ago and this was shortly followed by a fever. I ve had a low fever (99-101) for several days on and off. I also ended up becoming congested and have had chills and body aches. The cough and congestion seem to be getting better but the fever won t go away... Is this something I should be concerned about.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many causes for acute cough with fever and chills that is Tonsillitis, Pharyngitis, Laryngitis, Epiglosittis, Bronchitis, Viral Fever, Flu et cetera.

As fever is not subsiding, I think you should consult with an ENT specialist with a detailed history and proper local examination. Along with that, you can do steam inhalation regularly and keep yourself warm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
