What Causes Cough And Shortness Of Breath?

I shifted to Bangalore very recently. I am over weight but healthy person otherwise. I dont have any other problem. But since last few days i started having cough & shortness of breath. When i visited doc, it was identified as Bronchitis Allergy which apparently is very common in Bangalore due to Pollen in the air. They gave me 10 days meds & asked me to take asthalin nebulisation twice a day for a week. I got the attack again after 20 days & at that time they gave me injection & again asked me to take nebulisation for a week thrice a day. While I am better, i dont feel 100% good. I still get sore throat at times n shortness of breath if i speak for long My job includes talking to lot of people & travelling as well. I cant carry nebulizer everywhere i go So wanted to know if i can instead use Asthalin inhaler. Will it be effective in my situation & what are the side effects for same? Thanks, Reema

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of shifting to Bangalore and started getting cough and shortness of breath.
There is recurrence of the problems and also sore throat in spite of nebulization and medications.
Yes, this looks to be allergic bronchitis or asthma.
You can certainly carry the inhaler, as how can you carry nebulizer wherever you go as you have to travel so much and has to interact with so many people.
Simultaneously get an appointment with Pulmonologist to have clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like pulmonary function tests, tests of blood, X-ray of the chest, CT scan if needed.
You can have round the clock oral medication to cover all 24 hours so that you will not have any emergency and certainly can use asthalin nebulizer.
Avoidance of the allergens is the key - used air filters at home and office.
