What Causes Cough Along With Fever And Body Rashes?

My 10 month old baby girl has had a cough for about 3 1/2 weeks. Yesterday she got a fever of 103, I gave her motrin and it went away (without returning). She also started developing a rash of tiny rosey colored spots all over her body. It has been on her body for about 3 days. I am wondering if there is something I should be specifically looking for (that makes this serious enough to take her in). Thanks you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, sorry to hear about your baby's symptoms. Though rashes are common in infants, but one should not ignore rashes associated with fever and cough. It might be some viral infection or bacterial infection. Fever with rashes are also seen in Dengue fever with low platelet count. It is better to go for blood test to rule out the cause. Kindly visit your local physician or Paediatrician. Give antipyretics like Meftal P syrup or paracetamol syrup if temperature rises again. Keep the baby well hydrated.
Hope she becomes well soon.
