What Causes Continuous Low Grade Fever For Months?

yes please. I have had continuous low grade fever for months with no acute symptoms. I am 72 yrs old and I have had heart problems {parasysmal v-tach with aicd implanted, triple cabg and 5 stents) 3 joint replacements(left and right knees and left hip), type2 diabetes, hypothyroid (from amiodorone) and long hx of sinus infections, other than that I am fine, ha ha! have u any ideas about the fevers, thank you, hank

Many conditions can cause persistent fevers, and should be investigated. Your immune system is likely to be somewhat suppressed by your other conditions to begin with, and even low-grade fevers could be caused by a significant infection. In particular, you might have infection in one of the joints that has been replaced. This can be subtle with low-grade symptoms for quite a long time before the infection becomes severe and obvious. Heart valve infections can also cause persistent low-grade fevers. More uncommon infections such as tuberculosis or fungal infections could also do it. Noninfectious conditions like collagen vascular disease (eg, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis) and cancers such as lymphoma could also do it. All in all, you need to get in with your doctor and start working this up to find out what exactly is causing it. Hope this helps.
