Hi, I had an abortion on the 13th December 2013, everything went fine, I took another pregnancy test I'm not any longer pregnant, but I have been bleeding everyday since and it has now been 9 weeks.Last week I went to my doctor and he didn't seem concerned, he gave me utovlan tablets to stop the bleeding within 2/3 days but it hasn't after a week, so I stopped the tablets yesterday now I have even heavier bleeding, I'm scared!!

Hello,
A trans-vaginal sonogram can help to locate any residual products of conception. A hormone profile can help you judge if there is any hormone disturbance as is often seen after an abortion or delivery, that can be causing this prolonged bleeding. Finally, a clinical evaluation by an expert will help to see if there are any polyps or local lesions causing this bleeding. If everything is fine, use of styptics and a course or two of combination pills usually solves the problem. Please maintain genital hygiene and general nutrition. Take care.
