Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on a high dose antibiotic for 5 days and was taking a chewable probiotic 3 times a day. Apparently it was not strong enough because I have become extremely constipated. I started taking Miralax once a day , 3 days ago, but I am still unable to eliminate. I am going to take an Align tonight but wonder if I should start with 2? I will very much appreciate your advise.
Constipation is mostly due to bad dietary habits. It is better to control your constipation in a natural ways. You should include fiber in your diet. I tell you dietary sources of fibers. Probiotic does not constipation. Advice 1. Include fiber in your diet such as split peas, lentils, black beans, lima beans, sprouts, baked beans, raspberries, pears, apples, barley, bran flakes, and brown rice 2. Syrup Duphalac (lactulose) 2 teaspoonful per oral at bed time 3. Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily 4. Avoid straining while defecating 5. Divide your meals into smaller portions and eat them frequently during the day 6. Avoid tea and coffee I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
