What Causes Constipation During Pregnancy?

Hi, I'm 38w2d pregnant and have not been able to have a bowel movement for a few days. When I am able to go its a very, very little amount. I also woke up one night with an intense amount of pain on the right side of my abdomen near the lower middle. The pain was so bad I felt nausea and could barely move. Is this a severe case of constipation or something worse? Also if it is constipation, what can I do to help it? I've tried exercise, prune juice, tons of water, healthier foods with high fiber and so far nothing has worked.

Hi,

Welcome to healthcare magic. I have read your question.

I would like to reply as below:

1) You try sleeping in left lateral position.

2) Sleeping on abdomen for a long time causes decreased bowel movements by compressing on the bowel.

3) So try sleeping sideways .

If you have any further queries, let me know so that I can help you much better.

Wish you good health.
