What Causes Constipation After Laparoscopic Removal Of Ovaries?

I had my ovaries removed laprocopsy on July 14. today is Sunday July 27th and I still have constipation. I am going ...but thin kind of loose stools. I did take milk of magnesia the other day...it did help, but the last couple of days have been as I just explained. I am wondering how long this will go on. I go for my post-op appointment this coming Wednesday, July 30.

Hello,

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to laparoscopy.

Constipation is totally normal after an intervention.

I recommend using a stool softener such as docusate (Colace).

If you have severe constipation, you may need enemas to produce a bowel movement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
