What Causes Constant Tinnitus?

I have been experiencing a constant ringing in my ears, can't seem to "pop" them, and a feeling of "not being there", woozy....on and off for over a year. I'm 52 and began having significant sinus issues at 40, which is when I first experienced any of these symptoms. Sometimes I feel better than at other times but these combination of symptoms are never completely gone.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it..

As per your complain it seems that ringing in left ear also known as TINNITUS can occur due to causes like ear infection, perforated eardrum, excess ear wax accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Treatment of underlying cause will help in resolution of the symptoms as Tinnitus is a symptoms of a disease and not a disease in its own..

In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised..
White noise devices can be advised..
You can also be advised Neuromodulation..
Avoid exposure to very loud sounds and also avoid diving, swimming etc..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
