What Causes Constant Pain In The Elbow?

Hi, I am an extremely healthy, in shape 18 year old girl. I played softball for about 10 years. About a year and a half ago, I began to have constant aching elbow pain. One day I threw a ball and I felt an abnormal popping sensation and the entire bottom of my arm and pinky and ring finger on my right arm went numb and started tingling. I have been told it is simply tendonitits, and I have had 2 cortisone shots, but they really made no difference in pain. I was also told with a few weeks rest it would heal. After a year of playing no sports and getting an MRI to check for tears (there were none), the pain has only gotten worse and more frequent. I has spread to constantly being on the lower part of my triceps and back of my shoulder and elbow instead of being centralized to only my elbow. Recently, my arms have started falling asleep and tingling and aching when I go to bed and even have no pressure on them. I injured my right elbow repetitively throwing, but that doesn t explain my the symptoms and pain are equally as bad in both arms.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a contusion only.
As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
