What Causes Constant Excessive Sweating In Infant?

I have an 8 month old who constantly sweats, even when he isn't sleeping he sweats. It's becoming a concern because he sweats so much that it rolls down his face and I have to change his shirt because he's so wet. He is not over dressed, overweight and he does not have any medical conditions. There was no complications during delivery or birth. He was a healthy baby that way 6 pounds 2 ounces. Is this something that I should be concerned about? I'm really starting to worry. Help me please!

Sincerely,

Worried Mommy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Hyperhidrosis is sweating beyond what is needed to maintain normal temperature of body.

It can be primary or secondary. It can be generalized or regional.
Sweating around the head particularly during sleep is a common in children. The cause is not clear but it can be because the surface area of the skin in a baby's head is more than the surface area of the baby's body ,compared this to an adult. So its normal for all babies sweating to much specialy in the skin of their head.

Hope this helps,
Kind regards
Dr.Mersi
