what might cause a constant cough and clear mucus with a constant congestion? have hard it one and off for four months. had four weeks of antibiotics. also had ten days of prednisone. chest xray and ct scan on sinus are all clear. this all started with bronchitis and have felt good and bad for four months with relapses every week or two..

Hi, I understand your concern. Mostly the type of long standing cough with clear mucus is allergic in origin. You should consult a chest specialist ,have full investigations done ( Blood counts,Xray, Mx test,culture of sputum, respiratory function test ) to exclude/ confirm other diseases having chronic cough & have necessary treatment. . Allergy detection test will find the things you are allergic to followed by desensitization treatment./ avoiding allergens/ anti allergic treatment. Thanks.
