What Causes Confusion While Recovering From A Staph Infection?

My husband is in the hospital recovering from a staph infection. bacteria was build up on one of his heart valves and he had to have heart surgery. he has been confused about where he is and saying things he normally wouldn t say. i am worried that he was affected mentally by this and wondering if it is something serious.

Just being in the hospital and having an infection can cause confusion and in some cases even hallucinations. They medications may also be a cause. Hopefully he will recover and be back to normal soon. Make sure his hospital doctors know that this is going on so that if it is a medication side effect they may be able to change his medications around.
