What Causes Confusion And Shoulder Pain After A Head Injury?

Hello. I took a pretty hard hit to the head during a skating accident 4 nights ago. I have noticed that I feel very slow, like I am barely moving, I am scrambling around to find the correct words to form a sentence and at times feel very confused. Have had severe left jaw, neck pain and shoulder pain all on the left side but hit my head on the right side. Was seen in the ER and have CT of head, face and neck which was all negative.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There may be a Concussion injury to the parietal lobe which causes such symptoms. The CT scan can be negative.

At the shoulder, it may be muscular or ligament injury which causing pain.

If the pain is unbearable, then an X-ray should be done just to make sure that we are not missing any fracture if it is there.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
