What Causes Concentrated Urine After A Partial Hysterectomy?

I just had laparoscopic surgery for a partial hysterectomy. The hospital wanted me to fill up a jug to at least 150 ml of urine before letting me go. They also mentioned that my urine was very concentrated. This was after about 3-4 hours of intravenous fluids plus a few cups of water after the surgery was over. What could be wrong with me?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my surgical experience, the concentrated urine seems to be various possible reasons as

- water loss during surgery in form of hormone homeostasis
- inadequate hydration
- excretory effect of certain antibiotics given peri operative period
- others.

Do not panic and keep faith in your consultant who will make your urine clear before discharge to home.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
