What Causes Cold Sore On My Lip?
I have a cold sore on my lip, i touched it to put some medicine on it, but then 2 hours later accidentally touched myself while changing my tampon, now i am freaking out thinking i have just given myself genital herpes. is this possible? what are the chances?

Hi,
As you said you have herpes labialis. You touched the lesion to apply cream. Virus might be transmitted to finger pulp. If the local immunity is poor, you may develop herpetic whitlow. But, after 2 hour you touched genitál,there is least possibility of transferring infection to genital,as the long time passed before contact. I do not think about the survival of virus. So, do not worry. You are less likely to develop herpes progenitalis. I hope you got my answer.
