What Causes Cold, Cough And Fever After An Adenotonsillectomy?

Hi, My 5 year old daughter underwent adenotonsillectomy and bilateral myringotomy with grommets insertion surgery on Jan 21, 2017. She was doing great till Feb 3rd. From Feb 4th, she developed cold, cough with phlegm and fever 101.3F. Is this normal? I am just worried that the surgery site should not be impacted due to this. Also, she started breathing through mouth due to her nose block. Please suggest.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns.
Considering previous surgery it would be the best to see s surgeon that performed it since it may be related to the procedure. However,in most cases it isnt and these are symptoms of typical bronchitis or upper respiratory infection so it should not lead to any serious consequances. Just give him enough fluids and antipyrietics before you see ENT doctor who did surgery.
I hope I have answered your query.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
