What Causes Cold, Catarrh With A Discharge And Toothache?

I have had a cold since 4th Feb. As the cattarh was lingering last Wednesday I started trying Covonia Cattarh remedy. I then seemed to get worse, with a green discharge, toothache on one side of my upper jaw, a tender eye on the same side, and a feelng that I might be going to get earache. Shoud I see a doctor, or can you suggest anything else to hurry up recovery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The problems starting as cold, continued as green discharge, toothache with tender eye on the same side and feeling of ear ache can be due to the following reasons: The cold turned into secondary infection of the upper respiratory tract. The green discharge indicates bacterial infection, the spread to the same side of sinuses may lead to toothache and eye pain.

Consult your Doctor immediately for clinical evaluation, examination of ENT and respiratory system, relevant tests of blood and get started with an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen, nasal decongestant drops like Otrivin, oral decongestant, symptomatic and supportive treatment. All these should resolve the problem. Continue medicines to complete the courses till cured. If you do not get an appropriate response then you may be referred to an ENT Surgeon and get CT scan of nose and sinuses and to have any additional treatment as indicated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
