General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about a 61 year old retired female having problems of clicking of left ear on swallowing, consulted ENT, no nose or sinus problem, no wax hence advised nothing, on blowing nose you are getting this sound and on swallowing. The most probable cause I can think about is eustachian tube dysfunction on the left side. This tube provides air to the middle ear on demand and then only it opens otherwise it is closed.

For some reason like inflammation at the nasal sided opening having inflammation can cause such problem and is usually felt on flights and high altitude which you possibly would have. Nothing to worry as ENT Surgeon has examined you. I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- First of all, stop blowing the nose.
- You can take any anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
- Instill nasal drops.
- Take steam inhalation.
- Avoid extreme changes of weather
This will surely resolve the issue.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
