What Causes Clear Vaginal Discharge During Menstruation?
So I just started my period last night about 11. I went to bed and woke up around 5:30 am with bad cramps. I sat up in the bed and felt a discharge come out. I had a tampon in, but I assumed it was me bleeding through my tampon. So when I went to the bathroom, it wasn t blood it was almost like water. It did not have a smell. And this has happened once before. It soaked the bottom of my shorts..... what does this mean?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Passage of clear vaginal discharge is called leucorrhea. There and many causes of leucorrhea. Leucorrhea can occur in cases of cervical infection or inflammation, vaginal infection or inflammation, endometrial infection or inflammation or in disorders of the fallopian tubes & ovaries. I suggest you to consult your gynaecologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations especially ultrasound abdomen. Clinical assessment of the genital tract is also necessary. Since, the discharge is odourless, possibility of infection is low. However, an examination of the vaginal discharge is necessary. Management can be planned after clinical assessment and investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
