What Causes Chronic Pancreatitis?
I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis lipase was 3,000 at the time. Recovered from that episode, but had a recurrence that was diagnosed as pancreatitis, chronic. However, for the last 6 months whenever I go to the doctor, the tests are normal, or just a little rise on the lipase. Should I consider myself with chronic pancreatitis??

You most likely do have chronic pancreatitis, although the diagnosis is difficult to make. Do you have a CT scan showing calcifications in your pancreas? If yes, then you have chronic pancreatitis. Your doctor can also order a pancreatic function test or a pancreatogram to confirm the diagnosis, but these are not routinely done.
