What Causes Chronic Pain In The Hip And Leg?

I have been having discomfort and pain in the back of my right leg and hip. It mostly affects my calf and my hip, but doesn t feel like sciatic pain which I have had before. It has been going on a month now and seems to get worse as the day progresses. Sometimes I also have top of foot pain with it. Your thoughts?

Dear
Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:

1. If I was your attending physician then instead of prescribing any medicines first I would have asked you to get an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon regarding your symptoms since

i. hip discomfort could be because of hip osteoarthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis]
ii. whereas pain/ discomfort in calf area could be due to DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder] or simply because of cramps in calf [due to diabetes, calcium/salt deficiency]

2. The symptoms have to be carefully assessed by your doctor to ensure that whether it requires immediate medical attention or long-term therapy.
I find this answer helpful
