What Causes Chronic Pain At The Base Of The Thumb?

Over two weeks ago, I woke up with pain at the base of my right thumb. I have been hoping that it would heal on its own, but it s not, even though I have been taping it to minimize movement. My guess is that there is ligament damage, but I m not sure. I m hoping not to have to wear a cast, as that would really hamper me, but I imagine that I might have to. Any ideas? Thanks, Larry

Hi,

Until we know, the exact problem it's difficult to say, but more chances of wearing a cast if it has not recovered in 2 weeks and has sudden onset of symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Sonia Dhawan, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
