Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a dancer and I recently competed at a competition this weekend after I did my solo my knee started to hurt a little in the back but it wasn t horrible pain. It hurt a little bit on Saturday but I competed again and then it got a little worse. To the poin on Saturday night I moved it and I heard like a pop like a snapping sound. I couldn t straighten it or bend completely it was most comfortable in one position. Then Sunday it hurt way more and I had a limp but I still danced. Now it s Monday and it hurts a lot more tonight but I walked a lot today. Now I can try and straighten and bend it s not popping because I m going so slowly but it hurts a lot in the back and now a little bit in the front and I can barely put pressure on it.
* Seems acute muscle spasm issue from solo performance over the stage requiring particular postural acquisitions during the period of time.
* I would recommend following for best recovery
- local application of heating pad 5 minutes each 4 times a day
- analgesic medications as ibuprofen with paracetamol 3 times a day after meals preferably with antacids
- avoidance of dancing practice or further stage performance
- local application of methyl salicylic acid and menthol spray or ointment
* Do follow up online after a period of 24 hours following the above measures to get further guidelines and management to cure at earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
